The twelve days of Christmas — December 25th through January 5th — are our opportunity to celebrate God’s greatest gift to us and the hope that He brings into a world troubled by unrest, hunger and darkness.
December 25th is the Festival of the Nativity, the birth of Christ.
December 26th is the Festival of Saint Stephen, deacon and first martyr (Acts 7).
December 27th is the Festival of Saint John, the Apostle and Gospel writer.
December 28th is the Day of the Holy Innocents, the boy children of Bethlehem who were killed by Herod’s soldiers as they searched for the Baby Jesus.
January 1st we celebrate the Naming of Jesus.
January 5th — the twelfth day of Christmas also called Twelfth Night — the eve of the Epiphany of our Lord, Epiphany being the visit from the Wise Men.
Merry Christmas to you and you family. May you celebrate His birth throughout the Christmas Season, from December 25th through January 5th and may you have a Christ-filled New Year.
