St. Athanasius

MAY 2, 2015

It’s Saint Athanasius Day!  Who?  Yes, Saint Athanasius.  And yes, Lutherans, not just Catholics, honor him on May 2nd.

Athanasius was born in 296 A.D. and died on May 2, 373.  He was the 20th Bishop of Alexandria and is best known for his defense of the faith against heresy at the Council of Nicea in 325.  Athanasius defended the doctrine of the Trinity and is recognized as an important Christian theologian and Church Father by the Catholic and Protestant churches.
